The fear of speaking English is real and very common — especially when you're afraid of making mistakes in front of others. But here's the truth: confidence doesn't come before speaking. It comes from speaking.

Why We Fear Speaking English

Fear comes from a belief that mistakes = failure. But in language learning, mistakes are data. Every mistake tells you exactly what to work on next.

The 3-Step Confidence Framework

Step 1: Start in a safe space. Practice with someone you trust — a coach, a study partner, or even just talking to yourself in the mirror. Reduce the social pressure first.

Step 2: Use filler phrases. When you're stuck, instead of going silent, use natural fillers:

  • "That's a great question, let me think..."
  • "What I mean to say is..."
  • "If I understand correctly..."

These buy you time and make you sound more natural.

Step 3: Record yourself. Record a 1-minute voice note in English every day. Listen back. You will quickly hear your own progress — and that progress builds real confidence.

The Compound Effect

Consistency matters more than intensity. 10 minutes of English speaking practice every day will transform your fluency in 90 days. The key is to start before you feel ready.

Join my English Club where we practice speaking in a safe, supportive group environment. You'll be amazed how quickly your confidence grows when you're surrounded by people on the same journey.
